Entering the competition

The Competition is open to all children aged 9 - 12 years in 2 categories (a) 9 – 10 years and (b) 11 - 12 years.
The entry should be the child's original unaided work.
It will be on the theme to be decided.
Entries to be a short story of no more than 1,500 words long, a poem or a piece of artwork no bigger than A3.
Each entry to be accompanied by a completed entry form.
All entries can be submitted by post or dropped into Gort Library marked for the attention of Guaire Magazine Children's Creative Arts Competition or submitted by email to guairemagazine@gmail.com
The closing date is 25th April 2024.
The winning entries will be published in the 2024 edition of the magazine. In addition, submitted entries may be published in subsequent issues of Guaire Magazine or affiliated non-profit publications.

The Guaire Magazine Children's Creative Arts Competition is a bi-annual creative writing competition for children aged 9-12. The Guaire Magazine Children's Creative Writing competition is run in collaboration with Gort Library.

Aims of the Guaire Magazine Children's Creative Writing Competition:

Inspire the love of creative writing and visual arts among children.
Cultivate the next generation of writers for Guaire Magazine to continue its legacy into the future.
Highlight the talent and creativity of our young community to the widest possible audience. The competition is open to all applicants between 9-12.
